I'm HPRshredder. I don't know how I got here I sort of just appeared. I love video games. I'm a programmer but I'm taking a break from that professionally for a bit to focus on making videos.

Yeahhhh! I'm Josh! 35 year old designer from Mesa, AZ if anyone in the Southwest wants to meet up.
I was recommended here by Will on Twitter, and man I am so pumped that this is a thing. I've not only missed forums, but the companionship that they bring and everything. So exciting! Also, I really had to remember how to use BBCode in my signature. That was nuts.

Hey! I’m Tyler, a UX designer working in Japanese manga out of Seattle. Andrew’s share of Will’s post about this place on cohost brought me here.
I’ve participated in Famicase in the past, but haven’t had the time to do so recently. Hoping to get back into it with next year’s exhibition.
Also, happy to be back on a forum! The last time I posted on one was on a Sonic fan forum back in the early 2000’s. Looking forward to recapturing those vibes~

I have to ask, what does a UX designer in manga do? Are you working on like manga-reading apps?TandyQ wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023, 08:33 Hey! I’m Tyler, a UX designer working in Japanese manga out of Seattle. Andrew’s share of Will’s post about this place on cohost brought me here.

I'm Joe, 31 year old(I think??) UX designer in St. Louis, MO.
I'm also psyched to be here. I think having spent enough time away from forums, I've settled on the belief that it is the perfect medium for online communication/discussion. There's a place for social media, it's great, and there's a place for discord, but I think message boards slow you down just enough to have much better discussions with folks.

I think we mostly all know each other here already but for anybody visiting from the future, I'm Andrew Elmore. At the time of this post I have recently turned 30. I'm a visual designer at Bungie and I make music for myself and some indie games. I live with my wife and kids in Seattle and I'm a big fan of the forum format. ^_^
I've also been working on some youtube videos on my channel MythicResonance, studying weirdly specific games and things I like about them.

Hi, I'm Dave, game developer and multiple design hat wearer living near Tokyo. I made a game called Mixolumia and some others. I'm here because Andrew posted about this place on cohost and it sounds fun.
Whenever the Famicase application period comes up I always find myself too inundated with work to submit anything but I have enjoyed popping by the event in the past, so hopefully I can get to know some of the people behind the work on display.

Hey! I'm Will!
Born and raised and still living in Brisbane, Australia - now living with my partner. It's cool here. If you're visiting Australia, definitely check it out. Much more chill here than Sydney or Melbourne, imo.
Traditionally I'm a graphic designer who's worked in marketing. Spent 5ish years doing design for a certain Australian branch of a certain US-based chain of video game retail stores. Yeah, that one. Now I'm working for a local marketing company doing primarily UI/UX & web design. It's been a cool change, and I'm enjoying learning new stuff.
I like to play games of all kinds. In recent years I've really leaned away from blockbuster titles (except for the Zeldas and Elden Rings and what-have-you because who can resist) and just picking up games that look fun or interesting.
Favourite graphic design in a game is a tough one . Control and Hitman are two that come immediately to mind from recent years that were outstanding.

Yeah, at least that’s part of it! The reading experience, the library management experience, the store experience, and tools for creators to upload and sell their indie comics are a few of the things my team owns the design for.turnwrighthere wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023, 09:05I have to ask, what does a UX designer in manga do? Ooooh those are both fantastic examples! I don’t know how many screenshots of the UI in Hitman that I have saved to my reference folder. It’s so clean and clear.Fruitality wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023, 11:46 Favourite graphic design in a game is a tough one . Incredibly clean and clear.
I loved that the UI in Hitman 1 was subtly all travel themed. From the airport-signage typography and iconography, to the scannable barcode accents like in the screenshot below. I can't seem to find any screenshot examples online, but I believe the item/mission description popups resembled boarding passes, in a way.
They moved away from that travel style specifically in 2 and 3, but I still appreciate the clean and refined UI of that whole trilogy.

Heya! I'm Tyler! I'm a Graphic Designer based out of New England. I recognize many faces here, and Matt's tweet is what brought me here!
I love at lot of what Nintendo does in their games when it comes to Graphic Design that appears in video games. A lot of Nintendo games, or Nintendo-adjacent stuff, inspires my work. In particular (and most recently), I think the icons for Swith Sports go pretty hard. Including this year, I've participated in Famicase for 8 years now, which is so strange to actually realize.
I'm excited to be here, thanks to all who set this up!

Hey, I'm Matt. I live in Kansas City with my wife and our cat. I do graphic design for a living and work in marketing. (But I try to make cooler stuff in my free time.) Huge fan of video games and horror fiction. Also very interested in and excited about the smaller internet (stuff outside of mainstream social media). Haven't spent much time in forums, but am very excited to start now!
Hard to pick a favorite piece of graphic design in a video game, but I might go with Colin McRae Rally 2.0 for the PS1:
It's minimalist, but is also fun and charming. And it's got that era-specific blue that may just be my favorite color. It's so good!

Man, I miss beautiful racing UI design. Nobody seems to really dive into it much these days. I think the best example of modern racing UI that looks good is art of rally, which is gorgeous.
