Hi all my name is Lachlan aka GhostSnacks!
I'm a graphic designer and visual artist based in the sunshine state of Queensland Australia, I'm a huge fan of early to mid 2000s games, music, movies, you name it. Some of my fav games include Halo 2, DOOM 3, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Ridge Racer V, REZ...the list goes on.

It's really nice to jump back into the world of forums again after so many years.
Really looking forward to hanging out with y'all on here !

Hello! Zero for short is fine. I came across Famiclub while browsing cohost, specifically the Arena II jam while scrolling the 'fantasy console' tag over there haha. I don't have any experience with graphic design, but I do enjoy browsing typefaces and trying to find them when one catches my eye. I even asked a friend once about the font they were using for watermarking their work (it was Bahnschrift Condensed Light iirc) lol. So a little interest in the field :)

I'm from California but am now in Georgia, and previously a data analyst. I enjoy voiceover and voice acting, writing, 3d art, and I'm taking a swing at making a game (so learning more about UX and design would probably be beneficial).

Speaking of games, a piece of graphic design I like from one would have to be the menus in Project Gotham Racing 4. Love the silhouettes contrasted by the High Def cars. And I'm especially a fan of the dynamic music system they have in there. Wish there was a better example of it, but here ya go! I'm gonna throw in another example and say the in-world helmet HUDs of Star Wars Republic Commando (and Metroid Prime, though I never played it).

Hey Zero! Thanks for joining 😁

Feel free to join in on the Arena jam if you like! Even if you're not a graphic designer, it's been fun to think about what those fiction consoles might have looked like or worked in different time periods.

We have little Font thread going here if you've got any favourite typefaces, websites, or anything related to type that you'd like to share. :)

Hi I’m Ruby! I joined up to talk about famicase after seeing the post about this forum on cohost. I really like the original famicom dragon quest box art designs by Akira Toriyama. I’m not a graphic designer, but graphic design has always interested me and I’d love to learn more. I used to work as a professional illustrator and cartoonist, but now I go to school full-time to study computer engineering and Japanese language. I’m hoping to submit something for famicase for the first time this year. The project is really cool to me.

Edit: Forgot to mention I’m from Tucson, Arizona in the US!

Hello I go by Harmless, I both learnt and come here from the Famiclub DISCover posted on co-host. I may not have a degree in graphic design but I do have the debt. Not really a video game but who every working on COMP/CON web site* (the online compendium for the TTRPG Lancer) seemed to had a lot of fun with it.

Hey, everyone! TopHat is my online alias. I stumbled upon Famiclub by scrolling through Famicase 2024 stuff on Twitter and Google - before I got to the Dribbler section that had some Famicase stuff on it including the FAMICLUB post! Browsing quickly through the forum made me want to join in on the video game graphic design discussions and actual putting some stuff out there.

I'm a Dutch IT guy who has a passion for video games and dabbles from time to time in graphic design. reddit, Logos By Nick and Will Paterson in particular got me into graphic design, while my interest in video games started early on during my childhood with the Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 2. For graphic design, I mainly dabbled into logos/symbols rather than full on graphic work although poster/magazine design is something I am looking at giving a shot too.

I've been a gaming fan for a long time that basically grew up on "modern" systems before threading back to classic games later on, especially with how gaming has evolved in both positive and negative ways. Still got to appreciate the art of game labels, manuals and those big guide books from back in the day - I still do tend to miss them today. Besides PC gaming, my favourite consoles got to be the Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and Game Boy Advance because of growing up on those platforms' games the most.

Hopefully I'll get to stick around, and help bring some more activity to Famiclub. :) Are there any other things of Famiclub I should be aware of, in case the forum is down for something? (Discord, Mastodon, Twitter, general website etc.)

P.S. @malyzar and @andrewelmore - Hook me up on resources regarding the old forum signatures you two are sporting. I miss them from the old days being on more gaming forums.

@TopHat haha, Matt downloaded the template files from the old Userbars site _right_ before they shut down permanently. I think he pasted a link around here somewhere? I'll see if I can find it!

Hey! Welcome! I'm glad that old Dribbble post paid off. :) Here's a link to the Google Drive folder with all the Userbars I have. There's also a simple PSD template for making your own!

Hello! I saw a post about Famiclub DISCover on bsky and I must have seen it at the right time because I did not realize I was missing a forum in my life!

I work in games, I'm a former UI designer, switched to community management when I got creatively burned out, then went back to school for motion design and now I'm a creative producer for Good Shepherd. Last gig was at Funselektor working on art of rally, Absolute Drift and Golden Lap. Happy to have a new creative place to hang out in and excited to check out what everyone is working on and playing.

I like old games and hardware. I've got a couple PVMs, server rack with a Crosspoint and a bunch of modded consoles, but these are my two favorite children:
