Re-connected a little bit with a childhood friend and got to reminiscing about older, perhaps influential songs and the whole trading mixtapes/CD's era. Had a couple tracks from all other eras come up, including this earworm of a beat which I haven't been able to shake for a decade. I guess it can be filed under "space disco", but who can get a handle on the subgenres and their permutations...

This morning I've chucked on FM Igualdad by Ilan Amores. He makes a version of Latin American Cumbia (traditionally like folk/country) but with more of a youthful/street vibe.

The whole EP is in one super cool film clip here:

I saw this dude play in Buenos Aires last year and he put on an amazing show.

I made a playlist consisting entirely of high energy music to drive a bazillion miles an hour to. This shit'll make you wanna kick out the windows of a cop car. This shit'll make you drive around on a motorcycle swinging a chain at pedestrians.

Also really dig this track she did with Ice Spice.

I’ve been listening to this so much, great recommendation!

If you like hardcore, you gotta check out GEL. They played a Sonic Drive-In last year and it's honestly one of the most badass things I've ever seen. I keep coming back to it.

I spent so much of today listening to Louie Zong's incredible variety of music.

Some highlights:
  • Kirbia - a cumbia remix album of Kirby songs
  • Lets-A-Go! - a disco remix album of Mario songs
  • Cosmos - just a super cool jazz funk album
  • Beyond the Edge of the World - like a fantasy dungeonsynth chill adventurevibes album
  • and my goodness while looking through the discography to make this list I found DODONGO - a zelda remix album based on RATATAT
what a marvel

Super cool. I've been trying to listen to some dungeonsynth-y stuff lately I haven't found a lot that's really clicked with me though. I think I'm looking for something somewhere between the style of that Castlesiege album and some doom metal.

I've enjoyed chucking this on shuffle and then listening to the subsequent Radio based on it:

I'm back again to plug 2 Mello's newest album release, Portable Headphone Dancefloor

It's a banger, and has been on constant rotation since it released a week or two ago.

Electronic , big beat, dance, house, etc.

this new lauren bousfield record is blistering noise and breakbeats with touches of classical instrumentation and it's really good. definitely black dresses/fire-toolz adjacent but has a unique flavor all its own. can't recommend enough.

Uneven listening here lately, going for long periods without and then bursts of a lot all at once.

Most recently it's been a bit of Art Feynman

And some "John Williams-core" stuff from the Afrika PS3 soundtrack

Fall is for sad music! I've been listening to AJJ, The Mountain Goats, and Phoebe Bridgers lately. Earlier this week I put on Punisher on the way to work and absolutely ruined my entire morning. Just totally bummed. Devastated. It was great, lol.

The multiple iterations of this hit refuse to leave our skulls
