I never dedicated the time to learning how to play Tetris properly until Tetris Effect, which is now one of my favourite games of all time.
I enjoy some Game Boy Tetris, as brutal as it is. And I've heard that Tetris DS is a solid version but I haven't played much of it.
If you wanted to play some Tetris today, which version are you going for?
What's your go-to Tetris?

I have a soft spot for Tetris DX on the gbc since it helped me survive summer school math class. I recently picked up Tetris DS and it's pretty good, I guess! I picked up a DSi to hack and I alternate between those two on it depending on my mood. Tetris Effect is incredible (and obviously a big inspiration for Mixolumia). Tetris 99 is probably the most satisfying multiplayer puzzler experience I've ever had, but I usually play these things on the go and it doesn't really fit into that mode of play.

I like the BPS "original" on Famicom, I love CDi Tetris though I don't have a CDi, I like Tetris S on Saturn, Magical Tetris Challenge on 64 is good, but I think my favorites are Tetris Plus on PS1 and Tetris Effect in VR on PS5.
I also like SuperLite1500 The Tetris on PS1 and the inexplicable SEGA AGES 2500 Tetris Collection on PS2.

Tetris 99 is great, but if I'm not looking for the competition, Tetris Effect has immaculate vibes. I ALWAYS wanted Tetris DS when I was younger but at the point it hit my radar, it was already a bit obscure and expensive.
A little off-topic, but my fiancee thinks the way I bag groceries is odd, and it 100% has to do with how much Tetris I've played.

I've really been enjoying Tetris Effect Connected now that's it on Game Pass. But I'm also super fond of the OG Game Boy version.

Tetris DX. I always take a screen and battery modded GB when travelling, and more often than not, just that one cart. I can play the 40 lines game forever, trying to set fastest times. I went through a phase of buying second hand DX carts just to have some target times to smash in the 40 lines section!

I should get DX it seems.
I'm in the minority who is kinda over how stiff Tetris Effect feels. I like 99 and TGM2, but TGM3 will replace the latter the second the port drops.

Yeah i second DX, grew up playing that version. Would have to be one of the better vanilla versions of tetris without all the extra fluff.
