When I was young I was obsessed with Tidus's wet Brotherhood sword from Final Fantasy X for some reason. I think it was just the incredible PS2 graphics at the time.
Now I just love to see a classic-ass stubby short sword like the Hero's Sword from Wind Waker:
Honourable mention to the Razor Sword from Majora's Mask - the coolest sword featured on all the key art that nobody ever used:
Hard to say what's BEST, but I want to give a special shoutout to the Zweihander from Dark Souls. I know it's a meme, but finally getting enough strength to properly use that thing was a revelation. Gaining the ability to straight-up pancake enemies totally changed how I thought about that game's combat. And I've pretty much gravitated towards the Big swords ever sense.
I appreciate that they tried to create a somewhat feasible lightsaber. I didn't really appreciate the jack-off recharge motion controls on the Wii though.

my pick would have to be stormbringer from elric, i mean who doesn't love a demon sword that drinks souls for sport.
I see a few great ones have already been mentioned. MLGS and GUTS. I like the Dragon Buster from Tales of the Abyss based on Dragon Buster. I think the Master Sword deserves a mention. Also Buster Blader's sword from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Covenant swords from Halo are a lot of fun... I'll throw the White Sword into the mix. I know it's not the strongest in Zelda 1, but it's such a difference-maker. And it feels so good to get every time you play once you've cut your teeth with the wooden sword.
