Suggestions for non-gamepad controllers

Since February I've come to the conclusion I'm likely on track for a capital "P" Problem with my hands and joints as life/age takes its toll. Can't be gaming like I used to, at least with traditional controllers. Mouse/keyboard seem to be ok for the foreseeable future for PC, but any recommendations for things that won't stress the joints and thumbs outside of that?

Hmm, this isn't something I've had direct experience with but a couple of things come to mind.

I always thought these Razer Tartarus keyboards with analogue sticks were cool, though I've never tried one.

How are you with something like an arcade stick or fight pad, or even something like one of these leverless controllers? I'm not sure how they would go with games outside of the fighting genre, but you may be able to set them up on PC to work in conjunction with a mouse to find a control scheme that works for you. The lack of dual analogue sticks could be an issue. I wonder if there's anything out there that has dual sticks but in a fightpad format.

Does something like a Wii Remote + Nunchuk combination work well?

Lastly, there's always the Xbox Adaptive Controller which you can plug various additonal things into to fit your setup if necessary.

It's a shame that many alternate devices like these come with a high price tag.

Keen to hear if you find something cool that works for you!

You know I haven't tried playing with the Wii downstairs since all this stuff started flaring up; I feel like that still might highlight the thumb strain, but I should give it a try. That idea of multipurposing a fight pad sounds intriguing. Feel like whatever I do I'd have to get used to something new, but maybe some kind of configuration could be made to work for the likes of quick-action entries like Hades or Celeste.

Those leverless and Xbox Adaptive items are wild, hadn't seen those before!

Hades with a fight pad would be sick.

I guess any single-stick game could work with a fight pad. It would just be dual-stick games where you'd start to run into problems.
