Ahhhh! So excited! I'm never on Twitter anymore, but I may hop on just to look at people's entries, since I'm sure that's where most will be posted.

Here's my entry for Famicase 2024 (along with a few supplemental posters)! It's called
MANNIQ.
- manniq-new.gif (853.71 KiB) Viewed 2754 times
Escaping the system means outrunning a relentless enemy: yourself. Each failed attempt somehow creates another nemesis. But perhaps these previous iterations can serve as stepping stones to breaking free. The system can't stop all of you...can it?
It's a game about digital clones stuck in a simulation. No set-in-stone ideas for gameplay, but I like the idea that the player character, the enemies, and the NPCs are all the same digital clones. Whichever one you are controlling is the main character — that's the only distinction. It's the "fight yourself" bossfight trope but for the whole game. And maybe failed attempts stick around and litter the playing field, or maybe you control multiple clones at once, etc.
An earlier tagline was:
"You are the hero. You are the villain. You are everyone." But I went with
Outrun Yourself as it's a little more snappy. The logo is custom, but I used the (now unavailable?) pixel font Foundry from
Aeriform on the tagline. And the wireframe guy is from a 3D model I bought from Sketchfab.
A fun one! My third and (current) favorite entry so far.

VR TRAINING MODULE: MEGASOMA

Pilot the MEGASOMA, a recon, recovery and rescue mecha in over 50 VR training missions! Explore unique environments, manage your resources strategically, and test your mettle in the combat simulator! | 1 Player | Genre: Action/Simulation
i'm back on Famiclub to share my famicase with ya'll! I'll be honest, I was definitely playing a TON of Armored Core 6 around the time I was putting my submission together this year, and it definitely shows. The game would center around piloting a mecha, rescuing people, and fighting off bandits. This year, I also tried out something new and modeled the titular mecha using Assetforge. I'm really happy how this year's submission came out, and I'm excited to see all of your submissions as well!
Happy Famicase Day, y'all!

I love Famicase day so damn much. Every entry I've seen has reinvigorated and inspired me!
Here's my entry: CATACLYSM
"The world is in ruins, shattered by an unknowable force. It is up to you to drive the intruder from your realm and reclaim the land."
I spent a lot of time working on an idea that I had sketched out and planned a while in advance and scrapped it all when it wasn't coming together. I found a super cool engrave-texture tutorial and decided to just make something that I felt looked cool and ominous with it. I might develop the setting a little further but for now it exists as a testament to effects of last-minute pressure on the creative process.

Mist
Transform. Transcend. There are no limits.
Stealth Action / Village Management / Dracula-like.
Expand the territory claimed by the Mist and infiltrate villages to increase the number of minions under the Vampire's control.
---
Clearly I've made this at the height of my playthrough of Symphony of the Night.
I had an idea to create a spooky image using a minimal dot matrix which would obscure the subject until you looked closer. This then became more elaborate as I began to fill in details and the background scene came together. Working within the constraints of the dot grid and greyscale palette was quite fun. Generally, illustrative scenery is not a strength of mine, so I think the restrictions helped me create the scene without needing to draw much detail.
For the logo itself I wanted to mess with pixelated blackletter which is always a cool aesthetic, so I took
this Blackletter typeface and modified it with vampire teeth lol.
Revisiting this one now, I feel that it's not my strongest entry for Famicase, and I think it suffered from being a bit of a rush-job before the deadline. Another couple of days refining the details in the illustration and perhaps adding some more distinctive elements to the design as a whole would have made a big difference, I think. But hey, I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out.

You travel back home. You are completely exhausted and start staring on your monitor into the outside world of your little train cab. The trees swoosh by just like the villages do. Everything feels small and human again.
For this year I got around to making a design in time thanks to you all! Last year I took the background photo of the "preview" in Japan so I would have found it weird to start in December. So this year I started with making an illustration of the train. The overall collage design war inspired by this ancient tweet from
Thew. When I still had regular "meeting" I always like to keep my brain engaged by watching these hour long videos of a train slowly crawling to somewhere.
Here is my "progress" over some days. The backgrounds were a full day but I didn't save the designs thrown away. Enjoy!
